Internet memes come and go, but the longevity of LOLCats, cute cat pictures with captions representing their thoughts or actions in a very grammatically incorrect manner, has been quite impressive. Looking at its trend over the past two years, we see that it’s starting to taper off. But, how much longer will it live on?

Interesting question. Whether the humor itself is dying, the ICHC empire is still growing very strongly:

Adam,
At the risk of offending cat lovers, perhaps someone has started throwing “pet rocks” at them.
One has to wonder if “cute creativity” is enduring as well as endearing. BTW- how many
definitions of the last L in LOL are there?

Just as my interrest has begun to wane, my son has become very interrested in LOLCats so who knows. I do find the fact that there are stats on this ammusing.
